BRIEF BIO

My career in criminal justice began in 1985 with Orange County Probation Department, where I was a transcriber, unit clerk, and juvenile counselor. A promotion to the OC District Attorney's Office as an Investigative Assistant, and later Family Support Officer was my introduction to paralegal and law enforcement work. While with OCDA, I completed training at Fullerton College Reserve Police Academy; upon graduation, City of Orange Police Department hired me as a Reserve Police Officer, and I spent two years there. After moving to Northern California, I was hired by Sacramento County Public Defender's Office to support the Investigations Unit. Because of my personal interest in, and aptitude for technology, I was the beta-tester/first user of a pilot case management project, which is how I learned to love databases.

I relocated to Monterey County in 1998 and was hired as the first full-time admin assistant to an expanding Investigations division in the Public Defender's Office. My tenure there included assignment/promotions to Investigator I, Senior Legal and Administrative Secretary. Besides the administrative and legal assistant duties, I was the department's Information Technology coordinator. I setup computers, trained staff, supported the in-house case management database (which I helped develop), and coordinated user access, security and system updates with County IT personnel.

I left civil service in December 2007 and launched a transcription business in February 2008. I have since "re-purposed" my business to more completely support criminal law professionals.
